The Bucks derby ended in a 1-1 draw at Adams Park - but the scoreline will never quite tell the tale of what was an incredible match.
The Chairboys made just one change, with Will Antwi making his come back to replace the suspended Dave McCracken. Rab Douglas also appeared on the bench.
In a fairly stale opening period both sides appeared to be sizing each other up - with no one really getting a hold of the game. If anything the Dons were having the better opening, all be it without creating any real chances.
Dean Lewington forced Leon Johnson into a brave block in his own area with ten minutes gone, and following that a well worked move down the right hand side involving Colin Cameron won a corner for MK - which they failed to convert.
The Chairboys responded in the best possible fashion though, as they took the lead with ten minutes remaining in the first half. A long ball up field was flicked on with finesse by John Sutton, and Matt Bloomfield raced on to the pass with pace. He went clear before slotting home well - and silencing the vast away support.
It was Wycombe who looked the better side now - dominating possession and looking dangerous in their spells on the ball. However one lax moment was to prove costly, as the normally reliable Martin Bullock gave the ball away poorly on the half way line to Leon Knight.
The front man is full of pace - and he showed that as he raced away into the Blues half, and squared the ball in the area for Cameron.
The experienced Scottish midfielder made no mistake - and leveled things up at the worst possible time for the Wanderers.
Although there were to be no further goals - it was the second half that had the majority of the incredible action.
Just ten minutes in a scramble in the MK area resulted in their captain Keith Andrews handling the ball on the line. Referee Mr Stroud took no hesitation in pointing to the spot, and giving the skipper his marching orders.
Just when it looked like the match was turning Paul Lambert's way however, John Sutton saw his spot kick saved well by Gueret in the MK goal - who had a brilliant game between the sticks.
In an astonishing couple of minutes - Paul Ince's side found themselves reduced to nine men. Williams picked up the ball on the near touchline, and was clattered by a very strong late tackle from Lloyd Dyer.
Again Mr Stroud went straight for his red card, causing mayhem on the bench as Paul Lambert and his opposite number exchanged heated words.
From then on the match was to take a completely different shape, with the Dons understandably putting all their players behind the ball. The Chairboys dominated possession - with the match almost like a training session of defense against attack.
Paul Lambert threw on Stefan Oakes and Reuben Reid - as the home side through everything forward. Scott McGleish twice headed just over the bar, with Sergio Torres also coming close to converting a Russell Martin cross.
It was to prove a frustrating evening for Paul Lambert however, as the Wanderers failed to calve open the brick wall placed in front of the Hypnos Terrace.
Although Wycombe fans will have walked away in disappointment - in the space of the week the Chairboys have taken two points and dominated large spells of games against the top two sides in the League.
At this stage in the season - positive thinking is the order of the day.
