Damien Doyle joined the club as Head of Medical and Sports Science in June 2008 alongside First Team Coach Junior Lewis as part of a new-look coaching set-up under Peter Taylor.

The Irishman's playing career was ended at the age of 18 after moving to England and Damien took an interest in the medical side of the sport, which led to a consultancy role at a number of Football League clubs.

He was then employed on a full-time basis at Barnet to work under manager Martin Allen, who subsequently took him to Brentford, MK Dons and Leicester City, and it was with the Midlands club that he made national headlines as being instrumental in saving the life of Foxes midfielder Clive Clarke, who collapsed during a Carling Cup tie.

Doyle left the Foxes after Martin Allen's departure and was appointed at Adams Park in the summer, where he became reacquainted with Junior Lewis after the pair had worked together at Brentford and MK Dons.
