The Wycombe Street Soccer League have been nominated for a Wycombe Partnership Community Showcase Award 2007.

The showcase awards aim to recognise and celebrate the community achievements of groups working on a not for profit basis in the Wycombe district.

The Wycombe Street Soccer League is in its first year. Thirty children, in two sessions take part in the scheme which runs for 10 weeks, 3 times a year. It takes place at the Cessex Astro Turf on Saturday evenings between 6.30 - 8.30pm.

The Wycombe Street Soccer League has been made to happen due to the partnerships between Wycombe Wanderers F.C., Wycombe District Council, Thames Valley Police, Cressex Secondary School and the Berks and Bucks Football Association.

The Football In The Community diversity officer Akeel Akram is the man behind the scheme and together with Scheme boss Dave Evans, will attend the awards ceremony in the Oak Room in the Town Hall on Tuesday 11th September.

The nomination is an acknowledgement and a thank you for the work Akeel, Dave and the FitC team have undertaken on behalf of the people of the district.
