THE BIG MATCH CLOCKWATCH
By Ross Jeavons
It's a glorious day here at Adams Park as Wycombe play their final league game before the beginning of the playoffs next weekend. If you want the story of the day it has to be the tale of two careers.
For Wycombe, 17-year-old Matt Phillips makes his full professional debut on the right side of midfield. For Bradford 37-year-old David Wetherall plays his last game before retirement after an amazing 19-year-old career in the game. As one story begins another one comes to a respectful end, that's what football's about ladies and gents.
The party mood is starting already. Bradford have got inflatable footballs and banners celebrating their hero Wetherall, the Blues fans are getting behind the boys already. Should be an interesting day of football. We had the Soccer Idol winners announced before kick-off, as the Wanderers sign up the best young talent from the local area. The future is bright, the future's....blue?
Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 Bradford City
FULL TIME
90 mins: This game has petered out some what, as the Blues start to cast their eye to next weekend's semi-final at Adams Park.
84 mins: Leon Knight has a stinging shot palmed round the post by Loach.
83 mins: Attendance is announced as 5467 - 600 fans from Yorkshire.
82 mins: Worrying for the Blues, the Doc goes down under no challenge at all and looks in some discomfort. He is back on his feet now, but walking gingerly.
78 mins: Double substitution for the Blues, Facey and Phillips off for McGleish and Oakes. Matty and Delroy have been superb today.
75 mins: Again Williamson shows trickery on the right before feeding Torres, whose low cross is only just scrambled away. Is Mike a winger in disguise?!
71 mins: Stinging long range effort from the Doc takes a deflection and only just flies over the top of the City goal.
70 mins: Mike Williamson has been class today, even doing a couple of kick ups in the middle of the pitch before spreading the ball out wide to Phillips. The man is immense.
69 mins: Leon Knight shows his frustration by kicking the ball away, the only thing that he earns though is a yellow card.
64 mins: Facey tries an ambitious effort from 20-yards with his instep but again the keeper' is equal to it.
59 mins: As it stands Wycombe Wanderers will face Stockport in the playoff semi-final next Sunday, with a 6pm kick-off. That's because Darlo are somehow beating Peterborough 2-0 away from home.
57 mins: Bet you didn't see this sub coming, off number 34 Frank Fielding....replaced by number 19 Jamie Young. He's sponsored by the WWFC Media team, so lets hope he doesn't let us down. No pressure Youngy!!
55 mins: Omar Daly curls in a wonderful effort from the left hand side that looked in all the way, but somehow Franky Fielding pushes over the bar. Superb shot, better save.
54 mins: Neither team can retain the ball in a scrappy spell of play, the only move of note end with Facey lashing a long range half volley into the arms of Loach.
49 mins: Good run and shot by Leon Knight, but well saved by Loach in the City goal.
47 mins: Omar Daly comes close as Bradford work the ball well to him on the edge of the area, as the defence opens up he can only shoot straight at Fielding.
46 mins: We're underway again, the Blues kicking towards the Valley End.
HALF TIME
43 mins: GOAL!! David Brown is taken down inside the area by Fielding, who perhaps on another day would have seen red. Medley steps up to convert the spot-kick, Bradford are somehow back in the game.
41 mins: McCracken has had a great game at right back, even showing some pace to get forward down the right hand side.
36 mins: Not much happening on the pitch, so I'll keep you up to date with the fans. Bradford have started a conga, which is slowly tailing down the bottom of the Dreams stand.
30 mins: A few Wycombe fans are stubbornly refusing to continue the mexican wave, much to the frustration of the City support. Come on chaps, sort it out!
28 mins: What an atmosphere here. City fans are having a party despite the score and Wycombe supporters are getting the mexican wave going. Got to love it.
24 mins: GOAL!!!! The Wanderers double their lead from the resulting set piece, Matt Phillips lofts in a dangerous corner that his headed down by Williamson. Leon Knight is in the six yard box to acrobatically lash the ball home. Thoroughly deserved.
22 mins: Craig Woodman does brilliantly to bomb down the left before cutting back to Knight, who is hacked down on the left hand side of the area. Phillips steps up to take the free-kick, which is palmed away by Loach. Willo flicks the ball back in and Cracks heads the ball against the bar. Great stuff.
17 mins: The game is hitting a bit of a quiet patch here, though Wycombe are still the ones dominating possession.
12 mins: Bradford have their first real chance, Fielding palms away Heckingbottom's long range strike straight to Medley - who slices high and wide from six yards out. Tight angle though...
11 mins: Good strong play from Facey again as he feeds through Torres, who controls well but drags his shot miles wide of the post.
10 mins: Great for Delroy to get his first goal, the man deserves it after all his hard work. Phillips looks confident now down the right, lets just hope we can hold on to him!
6 mins: GOAL!!! The Blues take the lead - what a superb assist by the young Matty Phillips! He dances through the centre of the park before slotting through Delroy Facey, who lashes the ball in off the post. Great move, great goal 1-0.
4 mins: A quiet opening as City try to attack down their right flank, but are well marshaled by a combination of Leon Johnson and Craig Woodman.
1 min: Cracks is indeed lining up at right back, with Matty Phillips just in-front of him. Pitch is looking better than it has previously.
